Political Science centers on the study of politics and political behavior. Students learn about the layers of government, international affairs, political legends of the past, as well as the rights of the public within the American government. By following a recommended sequence of courses, this pathway can be completed in four semesters.

Pursue Political Science

  • Political Science majors are driven to understand government and legal systems along with political behavior. Understanding these political systems, both past and present, helps them to discern where they generate support for their causes and initiatives in a way that translates into public policy.
  • Political Science courses require analytical, communication, critical thinking, and writing skills. Other Social Sciences, such as criminal justice, history, sociology, and economics give majors tools to understand their constituencies. Elementary Statistics equips majors to analyze data sets (economic, population, etc.). Foreign Languages help majors connect with people of other cultural backgrounds at every level of politics.
  • This degree can be completed fully online or with a mix of on-campus and online courses.
  • GHC’s Political Science degree is a good first step toward a bachelor’s in Political Science (a common choice for students pursuing law school) on their way to a career in politics or the legal/judicial system.
