Transfer Fair Helps Marietta Students

More than 500 GHC-Marietta students attended a transfer fair on Thursday, Feb. 21 so they could make timely decisions about their college futures. Sixteen colleges and universities were on hand at the event, which was organized and sponsored by GHC student advisor Dale Kelly.

The admissions representatives from all institutions walked students through the transfer process, including when to apply, the academic requirements for their college or university, how to transfer financial aid, the programs and majors they offer and the required prerequisites for those majors.  Students acquired contact information from each college representative with whom they met, making the process even easier for the student who might have follow-up questions.

University System of Georgia institutions have relaxed their transfer requirements, in general, making transfer more pain-free than ever.  The University of Georgia, for example, accepts transfer students who have 60 transferrable hours (or an associate degree) and a 2.8 GPA.

College and universities who attended were pleased with the event, too, so Kelly plans to make the fair an annual event.
