Division of Health Sciences

In support of the mission of Georgia Highlands College (GHC), the Division of Health Sciences provides innovative, state-of- the-art courses in dental hygiene and nursing. The department of dental hygiene offers an associate of science degree in dental hygiene. Beginning summer 2015, the registered dental hygienist to bachelor of science in dental hygiene (RDH-BSDH) online completion program will be offered. Dental hygienists who have earned an associate’s degree from an accredited dental hygiene program and hold an unrestricted license to practice dental hygiene in the United States may apply to the program (Link to BSDH).  The dental hygiene’s associate degree program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS).

The department of nursing offers an associate of science degree in nursing and a LPN/Paramedic –RN bridge program (link to ASN program). A  RN-BSN online completion program was also implemented in fall 2013. The bachelor of science in nursing is offered to RNs who hold an unencumbered license in Georgia and are graduates of an accredited associate or diploma nursing school. (Link to RN-BSN).  Both nursing programs are approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON) and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS).  The ASN program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Education in Nursing (ACEN). The BSN program is currently in the candidacy phase of accreditation with ACEN through fall 2015. The initial accreditation visit for the BSN by ACEN is scheduled for fall 2014.
