Veterans family fun day planned at Georgia Highlands College
Floyd campus will host free event on April 19th
Showing that being designated one of America’s Top Military-Friendly Colleges is more than just a status or title, Georgia Highlands College is planning an event to celebrate and appreciate its military families.
The Student Veterans of America at Georgia Highlands College is teaming up with the Georgia Army National Guard Family Assistance Specialist to host a Veterans Family Fun Day event on April 19, 2014 from 10am – 2pm. The event will be held at the Floyd campus in Rome in the pavilion at Parris Lake, 3175 Cedartown Highway.
“April is the month of the military child, so this is a wonderful opportunity for us to invite our military families in the community to attend a free event that will include lots of fun activities for everyone.” said Amy Wise, GHC Veterans Affairs Coordinator.
This free event is open to the public and will include a variety of activities including canoeing, a scavenger hunt, a bouncy house, games and door prizes. The Student Veterans of America organization will be providing free hotdogs and drinks and encourages those who attend to bring a side dish.
