Unappreciated Love

by Arthur Johnson

Unappreciated Love,
Standing out on the block
and being high on
all the rocks in my mouth,
you couldn't tell me nothing.

Unappreciated Love,
selling dimes for dubs
and trafficking to and from
a restaurant, the park, and the club,
you couldn't tell me nothing.

Unappreciated Love,
getting it how I live
running from love
and not loving my mama
for selling
and giving her some of the rocks
in my mouth
you couldn't tell me nothing.

Unappreciated Love,
missing him, missing her
(my grandparents)
and loving them both
till the day of my death
do us part.
So about love being
unappreciated,
my-you couldn't tell me nothing.

Unappreciated Love,
I feel like I've lost Peaches
just like I've lost my little brother
(James Ralph Johnson).
So even about love
my-you couldn't tell me nothing.

For what you've felt
I've already felt
and what you're feeling now,
I felt it a long time ago
when I didn't know love.
Though love
knew me
to be...unappreciative.
