(E)MISSION STATEMENT

Finally! The third issue of FC Bytes has arrived. What you'll find in this issue, like the previous ones, is a collection of poems, articles, artwork, and interviews; these works, an eclectic sampling of student and regional entries, reflect the creative sensibilities of their contributors. A collaboration like this promises to please even the most finicky of readers. If your taste is humor, we've got it. If it's the human interest angle that captures your fancy, we've got that; if you're a music aficionado, you'll be pleased as well. I told you,… we've got it all!

Hey! This little magazine has tremendous potential—potential that's fueled by the creativity and ability of its entries. Remember the words of Miguel Cervantes Don Quixote: "I know who I am, and who I may be if I choose." Enough said. As a student editor, what I've discovered is that there are an amazing number of talented individuals out there. These voices should be heard. We think that FC Bytes serves as an ideal platform for these as yet discovered talents. For example, our previous issue carried a tribute to Vietnam Vets; as it turns out, the segment was immensely popular. We hope this present installment will receive the same kind of praiseworthy notice. Also, you'll definitely want to check out the poetry section; this issue provides an impressive sampling of the talent we have on hand.

It is our hope that this marriage of artistic license and online accessibility will provide not only a greater readership but stimulate a broader range of entries. Before closing, special thanks are in order: an endeavor like this wouldn't be possible without the tremendous effort of the silent ones who toil, unmentioned, behind the scenes. Kudos to Jon Hershey, Jeannie Blakely, Steve Head, and Steve Burns whose advice and technical support make FC Bytes a reality.
