FINAL PROJECT

Your final project will incorporate your Internet research, word processing and Power Point presentation skills.  Your project may be on any topic of interest to you.  The last week of class you will give a PowerPoint presentation based on your research.

Internet Component

Minimum of 5 sources of online information.  Use a variety of search engines in addition to Galileo.  Please keep URL’s on your articles for use in your bibliography.  Instructions for a bibliography containing online citations can be found in the Harbrace College Handbook (many copies available in the Tutorial Center) or you may find directions online.  If you have any questions about the appropriateness of the style, send me a sample and I'll take a look at it.

Word Processing Component

Paper must be typed in Microsoft Word.  Minimum of 4 double-spaced pages required.  (No, you may not count the title page and bibliography!)

All margins 1 inch.  Font style should be “Times New Roman”; font size 12.

Include a title page with title of paper centered vertically and horizontally.

Place your name, course number, and date right aligned near the bottom margin.

Number all pages, except the first, in the upper right hand corner.

Include bibliography as the last page.

Power Point Component

Create a minimum of 5 Power Point slides to present the main ideas of your research paper.  Save these on a diskette if possible.  If the presentation is too large to save to a disk, save to your student drive or hard drive on your home computer.  Email the PowerPoint file to me the day of your presentation.

Be creative-- use color, graphics, animation and sound.

Do not try to put too much information on each slide.  Use bulleted phrases, no sentences.

Oral Presentation

Present your research to the class in a five-minute presentation incorporating your Power Point slides.  Due to large class size, please limit your talk to five minutes.

We will begin these presentations the last week of class.

 Come prepared!
