     1/ One factor that causes you to forget is lack of motivation.  2/  If you have no reason for remembering certain information.  3/  You will probably forget it.  4/ Dr. Joyce Brothers, a prominent psychologist, related how he memorized facts on boxing. 5/ To win $64,000 on a television quiz show.  6/ She and her husband were college students at the time.  7/ And, like most students, could use some extra money.  8/ She was not as interested in boxing as she was in winning the money.  9/ After she had won the money and used her memorized information for its purpose.  10/ She promptly forgot the facts. 11/  Another factor in forgetting is interference. 12/ Previous learning can interfere with new learning.  13/ Especially if there are similarities between the two.  14/ If you have previously studied traditional math, you may experience difficulty learning the new math.
