When you take the mathematics COMPASS exam at the college, you are allowed to use the TI-83 or TI-84 calculator.
It is a good idea to practice with the calculator before the COMPASS test.
Things that you should be able to do with a calculator:

|√||Find the square root of a number|
|^||Find the value of a number raised to a rational exponent. (i.e. 9 3/2 = 27)|
