GREGORY E. SUMNER, Ph.D. (Greg) is a Tenured Professor of Criminal Justice and Course Coordinator at Georgia Highlands College.  Greg is the Founder of Professional Screening & Information, Inc. (PSI), and the Community Criminal Justice Foundation, Inc.   Greg sold the majority of his stock holdings in PSI to a private investment group in April 2014.  Greg has served as a deputy sheriff, police officer, and senior instructor for the State of Georgia Police Academy.  In addition, he is a Veteran of Operation Desert Sheid and Desert Storm serving in the Georgia Army National Guard and the United States Army.

Greg holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Walden University and conducted additional graduate studies in developmental psychology.  He conducted his doctoral residency through Walden University at Indiana University.  He holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science from Jacksonville State University, where he was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma—a criminal justice national honor society, Lambda Alpha Epsilon—the American Criminal Justice Association, Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and currently as a Foundation Board member. 

In his spare time Greg enjoys merging his passion for the study of crime and his personal and philanthropic interest in real estate development to create positive social change.

Greg is a recipient of the Heart of the Community Award (2012); Jacksonville State University Criminal Justice Alumni of the Year Award (2012); graduate of Leadership Georgia (2009) and is an active member of the community and state. 

Greg and his family reside in Rome, Georgia where they are members of First Baptist Church of Rome.
