Education 2110: Investigating Critical and Contemporary Issues in Education    EDUC 2110 3-0-3. Prerequisites: ENGL 0099, MATH 0097, and READ 0099/Satisfactory placement scores.

This course engages students in observations, interactions, and analysis of critical and con- temporary educational issues. Students will investigate issues influencing the social and political contexts of educational settings in Georgia and the United States. Students will actively examine the teaching profession from multiple vantage points both within and outside the school. Against this backdrop, students will reflect on and interpret the meaning of education and schooling in a diverse culture and examine the moral and ethical respon- sibilities of teaching in a democracy. A field component (totaling 10 hours) is required.


Education 2120: Exploring Socio-Cultural Perspectives on Diversity in Educational Contexts.  EDUC 2120 3-0-3. Prerequisites: ENGL 0099, MATH 0097, and READ 0099/Satisfactory placement scores

This course is designed to equip future teachers with the fundamental knowledge of understanding culture and teaching children from diverse backgrounds.  A field component (10 hours) is required.


Education 2130: Exploring Learning and Teaching  3-0-3 Prerequisites: ENGL 0099, MATH 0097, and READ 0099/Satisfactory placement scores.

Explore key aspects of learning and teaching through examining your own learning processes and those of others, with the goal of applying your knowledge to enhance the learning of all students in a variety of educational settings and contexts. A field component (10 hours) is required.

These courses are taught as lecture based F2F courses and as web-based courses as well.

GHSS 2901 Introduction to Bullying (2 Hours) Web-based.

GHSS 2901 is an Area B specialized elective course that engages students in a critical study and analyses of bullying in the educational environment. Content is focused on definitions, bullying dynamics and processes, impact of bullying, historical, judicial and legislative persectives on bullying, board policies and moral, ethical, legal responsibilities of educators.

GHSS 2902 Bullying Beyond the Basics (2 Hours) Web-based.

GHSS 2902 is an Area B specialized elective course that engage students in a critical study o bullying in the educational environment. Content is focused on social media platforms, cyberbullying laws, bullycide, roles of educators, bully intervention/prevention programs and safe schools initiatives.
