The new Student Center on the Cartersville campus is finished and has begun serving students. The 55,000 square-foot facility boasts a dramatic lobby with double-sided fireplace and worktables with computer hook-ups and online access. Downstairs is the campus bookstore and a grab-and-go café, which will open when fall semester begins.
Upstairs are offices, a student game room, weight and cardio rooms with a variety of aerobic equipment. There is also a work room for creating many of the projects undertaken by student organizations. The east wing houses a running track suspended over a double basketball court.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend. A pig roast follows the ceremony.
