Bows to GHC Volunteers on International Volunteer Day

GHC celebrated International Volunteer Day on Dec. 5 by honoring community and student volunteers who help in the tutorial center.  The college program began a couple of years ago when a student wanted to help others.  Eventually, the idea expanded, and community volunteers were recruited.  So far, recruits have head about the program through word of mouth, but Juliana Briethaupt, director of adult and service learning, plans to expand it through more formal means within the year.

Many kudos to GHC volunteers who help our students succeed:

Bruce Campbell, community volunteer, works on the Douglasville campus tutoring math and chemistry. He has graciously donated several hours a week for the past five semesters.

Ashly Traylor, student volunteer,  is wonderful asset to the Paulding site. She is always willing to jump in a lend a hand making copies, directing students, and whatever else is asked of her.

Alberto Romero, student volunteer, tutors Biology and Anatomy & Physiology.  He has worked as a volunteer for three semesters at Cartersville.

Kristin Bennett, student volunteer, tutors Psychology, Spanish, and Math.  She joined our team in Cartersville this fall.
