Area Overview, Duties, and Responsibilities



Introduction:

Enterprise Application Services (EAS), a division of Information Technology, serves as the primary support for all Enterprise based applications and interfaces.

Primary Duties:

·         Provides support for Georgia Highlands College’s Database Systems.

·         Provides support for all Enterprise applications for Georgia Highlands College such as the SCT Banner Student Information System, PeopleSoft Financial System and PeopleSoft HRMS System.

·         Provides design and development support for the creation of new applications and programs and for the redesign or enhancement of existing ones.

·         Provides technical support for the design and development of applications that integrate with Enterprise applications.

·         Provides faculty and staff support to assist departments in the daily use of Enterprise applications and/or interfaces.

·         Investigates, evaluates, acquires, and promotes emerging technologies to support the enhancement of Enterprise applications.


Primary Duties (narrative):

·         Provides support for Georgia Highlands College’s Database Systems

o  Oracle Enterprise Server RDBMS

EAS supports all aspects of Georgia Highlands College’s Oracle Databases for use as production, development and testing.  Each database serves a unique function and must be handled discretely, due to the sensitivity of the data.  All databases are monitored and backed up daily.

o  Oracle  Application Server


EAS supports many web based systems that provide sensitive and non-sensitive data to faculty, staff and students.  These systems use Oracle security to protect sensitive data from public access.  Several of these systems cross between two or more Enterprise applications.


o  Microsoft Access Databases

EAS supports various Access databases which serve as sub-systems to interact with Enterprise Applications.  EAS also supports various stand alone Access systems to provide faculty and staff information in a variety of areas.


·         Provides support for all Enterprise applications for Georgia Highlands College such as the SCT Banner Student Information System, Peoplesoft Financial System and Peoplesoft HRMS System.

o  SCT Banner Student Information System

EAS supports all aspects of Georgia Highlands College’s SCT Banner Student information System.   EAS maintains one central server that houses the databases and one server that houses the web applications.  EAS is responsible for assisting faculty and staff to properly use these systems.

o  PeopleSoft Financial System

EAS supports all aspects of Georgia Highlands College’s PeopleSoft Financials System which is a web based application with the central database server being in Athens, GA.

o  PeopleSoft HRMS System

EAS supports all aspects of Georgia Highlands College’s PeopleSoft HRMS System which is a web based application with the central database server being in Athens, GA.

·         Provides design and development support for the creation of new applications and programs and for the redesign or enhancement of existing ones.

EAS develops and maintains all ad hoc queries and reports for use with Enterprise systems and local systems.  EAS is responsible for the training and support of faculty and staff in the use of all ad hoc reports.

·         Provides technical support for the design and development of applications that integrate with Enterprise applications.

EAS is responsible for the design and development of any interface that needs to interact with Georgia Highlands College’s Enterprise applications.  EAS is responsible for the training and support of faculty and staff in the use of all interfaces.

·         Provides faculty and staff support to assist departments in the daily use of Enterprise applications and/or interfaces.

·         Investigates, evaluates, acquires, and promotes emerging technologies to support the enhancement of Enterprise applications.

§    Archived College TI Transcripts

§    Continuing Education Transcripts


·         Provides support for all Enterprise applications for Georgia Highlands College such as the SCT Banner Student Information System, Peoplesoft Financial System and Peoplesoft HRMS System.

o  Local Modifications to SCT Banner Student Information System

·         Provides faculty and staff support to assist departments in the daily use of Enterprise applications and/or interfaces.

·         Investigates, evaluates, acquires, and promotes emerging technologies to support the enhancement of Enterprise applications.
