Requester Name: Libby Gore
Project Description: First Year Experience Federal Student Worker to be working as an assistant to the FYE Director. Student will be doing research on FYE programs throughout the nation, scheduling and preparing materials for the FCST 1010 courses and instructor trainings, and other clerical work.
Suggested Date for Implementation: Nov 01, 2010
From a student perspective: How would this project provide additional student access to technological resources?
Currently, there is no student computer access in the FYE Director's office. If this technology is not provided, student will be required to work on open-access student computers to complete tasks. This would tie-up computers that students use to meet the requirements of their academic courses.

How would this project broaden or enhance the quality of the student's academic experience through the proposed technology?
The student worker will be gaining valuable leadership, research, organizational, and time management skills while helping to shape the budding FYE program.

How would this project integrate technology into coursework?
Computer would be used to perform program research, correspond with FCST 1010 instructors, scheduling of trainings and course service projects, and producing materials for the courses and trainings.

From a faculty/staff perspective: Will other departments be involved with this project? If so, please describe.
The FYE program will be a multi-disciplinary program at it's full launch in spring 2011. Although housed within the Academic Support department, the FCST 1010 course extends its reach into PHED 1010, COMM 1100, and (with the launch of the eFolio system) into any course wishing to offer components to the student eFolio's. Along with collaboration between disciplines, the program draws from many other programs and resources on campus such as Service Learning, eLearning, Honors Program, Diversity Initiative, Career and Counseling, Office of Student Life, the Library, and the Tutorial Center.
