The FCST 1010 classes are in full swing and have their service projects rolling. Our students are involved in many different types of service from tutoring at elementary schools to helping plant "peace poles" in our community. The different Citizen Projects are exciting and giving GHC students the chance to give back to the community. Check back regularly for updates.

New Skillshops for Fall 2011

GHC Spring 2011 Volunteer Fair
Numerous students signed up to volunteer their time with the various organizations, we had a drum circle performance by Mountain Top Ministries, and raised $100 and eight boxes of canned good for the North Bartow Community Service Pantry!

The Citizen Project is the Service Learning component of the FCST 1010 class. Each class chooses a sociopolitical issue to research. The sociopolitical issue is chosen because it affects each of us, right here in our own community. A local partnering organization is also chosen for their involvement with the issue and their availability to offer volunteer opportunities to the GHC students, staff, and faculty. After researching the issues and organizations, each class produces an informational brochure and a class web site. The semester ends with all of the FCST 1010 classes hosting the Volunteer Fair on each campus in conjuction with the Office of Student Life. Check out the links below to find out what is going on with each class.
