Announcements

It's time to do your FAFSA for the new aid year starting in Fall 2012. Simply log on to www.fafsa.ed.gov and select the 2012-2013 FAFSA to get started. Don't forget to use the new IRS Data Retrieval tool to upload your tax information directly from the IRS.

Welcome

The Department of Student Financial Aid is here to assist you in the application process for all types of financial aid.  Financial Aid is available to eligible students in the form of grants, scholarships, loans and work programs.

To be considered for Federal and State financial aid, you must be admitted to Georgia Highlands College and complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  On the FAFSA, you should request that the information be sent to Georgia Highlands College. Our school code is 009507.

GHC Confidentiality

Georgia Highlands College complies with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, also known as FERPA, which prohibits the release of educational records without student  permission.  FERPA states that the college, its agents, faculty, state, and administrators are not allowed to share educational information without anyone (including parents and spouses) without the written authorization and consent of the student.

Walk-In Customer Service Confidentiality Policy

Students who wish to know specific information (i.e. types of awards and/or dollar amounts, etc.) about their financial aid records are required to provide the Financial Aid Department staff with their GHC ID Card.  Information concerning a student's file will not be released to a parent, spouse, or any other relative without the express written consent of the student.  You may, however, obtain specific information regarding your financial aid file by visiting your SCORE account.  We will accept photo identification for new students who are in the process of applying to GHC and have not received their ID Card.

Telephone Customer Service Confidentiality Policy

Only general information (i.e. forms required to complete your financial aid file, whether your file is complete or not) will be released via the telephone.  Information concerning a student's file will not be released to a parent, spouse, or any other relative without the express written consent of the student.  The student, however, may obtain specific information regarding their financial aid file by visiting their SCORE account.  Social Security numbers will not be accepted over the phone.
