Policy for Awarding and
Disbursing Year-Round Pell
for Summer Semester 2011
For the 2009-2010 crossover period, Georgia Highlands College will consider the period as part of the 2010-2011 award year, exercising the option to be exempted from the rules governing year-round Pell for the 2011-2012 crossover period and beyond. This exemption allows Georgia Highlands College to delay the requirement of tracking progression and using the upcoming year’s EFC if most advantageous.
Awarding
Since Georgia Highlands College has selected to opt out of applying the crossover period regulations for 2011-2012 to the Summer 2011 Semester, the following stipulation(s) will apply in regards to awarding and disbursing year round Pell:
- Georgia Highlands College will manually review year-round Pell Grant eligibility for the Summer 2010 semester for students who were previously awarded for Fall and Spring for the 2010-2011 academic year and who completed the Request for Financial Aid for Summer Semester 2011.
- Georgia Highlands College will review year-round Pell Grant eligibility for students who are admitted or readmitted for the Summer 2011 Semester when they are awarded.
- Georgia Highlands College will perform an overall review of awards for Summer 2011 for students who are Pell eligible to ensure all students have been awarded year-round Pell correctly.
- All students will be notified of the additional award using our normal award notification procedures.
Disbursement
The appropriate amount of Pell will be disbursed to students for the Summer 2011 Semester based on their status for year-round Pell, enrollment (minimum half-time enrollment required for year-round Pell), as well as all other eligibility requirements. All other Title IV policies governing the Pell Grant will be observed and implemented, as appropriate.
