Service Learning, Learning Community, Study Abroad and Honors Options

In addition to our regular slate of course offerings, the Communications area also has service learning and Honors option courses available, as well as frequent course offerings in GHC Study Abroad trips.

COMM1100-Service Learning Human Communications requires 10-15 hours of volunteer service throughout the semester, as well as in-class assignments based on your experiences with community service.

All of our faculty are willing to discuss the possibility of Honors Option contracts with students enrolled in any COMM courses. Please talk to your instructor or visit highlands.edu/honors for more information.

During Maymester 2014, COMM 12210 - Public Speaking will be taught by Professor MacMurdo and offered in conjunction with the Summer Study Abroad trip to London, Normandy & Paris and COMM 1502 - Intercultural Communication & COMM 2105 - Interpersonal Communication will be taught by Professor Simpson in conjunction with the Study Abroad Service Learning trip to the Dominican Republic.  Please go here for more information concerning these trips.
