College Relations
The College Relations Department is the internal and external communications arm of the college. The department regularly interacts with the media, distributing news releases, coordinating press conferences and interviews and managing newsworthy special events.
In tandem with the Information Technology department, the staff helps maintain the information on the college website. It also contributes to Facebook and Twitter, as well as appropriate mobile apps.
Every quarter, the staff produces Highlander, an online magazine featuring news of the college, spotlights on faculty, alumni and students and an ongoing column featuring two points of view by faculty members on various topics of general interest to Georgians.
Every month, an issue of Folks & Features, provides a brief snapshot of college news, focusing on faculty and staff achievements.
College Relations plays a crucial role in informing the college community about weather events, school closings and other emergencies. It works closely with the president’s office, Campus Safety and other officials to distribute accurate news quickly.
