At Georgia Highlands, you have the opportunity to belong to an initiative dedicated to success:  GHAME—which stands for Georgia Highlands African-American and Minority Male Excellence.   GHAME is part of a statewide initiative to increase the recruiting, retention and graduation rates of African American male and Latino male students.  GHAME offers support in a variety of ways—academic advising, financial aid advising, strategies on time management and studying—and close monitoring of your progress in class.  In addition, GHAME organizes events on campus and field trips off campus that will broaden your college experience.  Last year, for example, GHAME members attended the Magic City Classic football game, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and two plays at the True Colors Theater in Atlanta, just to name a few GHAME-sponsored events.  Our community partner for GHAME is the 100 Black Men of Rome-Northwest Georgia.

In addition, starting this fall, GHAME members are being invited to join the new local chapter of a national organization--Brother 2 Brother--which has over 250 chapters in colleges around the country.

If you are interested in joining GHAME or want to learn more about the program, please contact:
