Beverly Fleming, customer service representative in the admissions office, was given the Superstar of Service award Friday, Aug. 10 by Lisa Smith of the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau. The GRCVB created the award in 2011 to honor people in the community who display outstanding customer service skills. Every other month, the bureau honors frontline employees who are nominated by their peers in business, industry and the non-profit sector. Honorees must rise above normal customer service expectations to earn the award.
The Board of Directors of the GRCVB selects the winner based on the nominee descriptions submitted. Anyone who lives in Rome or Floyd County is eligible to win. There have been 30 nominees in 2012.
Fleming has been with Georgia Highlands for six years. Colleagues know her as kind and helpful. She was nominated for the surprise award by Sarah Colston, who said that her own work has improved by watching Fleming and being inspired by her.
