is now
The LaNelle Daniel Prize in Poetry
The prize is named for former ORK advisor and Paris Lake Poetry Contest Founder, LaNelle Daniel, for her passion for poetry and her past and ongoing service to and support of the magazine, as well as her service to the college as Associate Professor of English, English Department Coordinator, and interim Chair of the Division of Humanities.
Please consider submitting to this contest, now named for its remarkable founder. The submission period runs from October 1, 2011, through February 24, 2012.
Guidelines
FIRST PRIZE $250
Second Prize $100
Third Prize $50
Plus publication in the spring 2012 issue of ORK
CONTEST RULES:
•Poetry may be in any style and on any subject; however, maximum length is 45 lines.
•Entry fee is $5.00 per poem or three poems for $10.00. Payment must accompany the submission.
•Poems that have been previously published, have received other cash awards, or are under consideration elsewhere are not eligible.
•All poems must be typed on plain white paper. Author information should be in the upper right hand corner.
•Entries will not be returned or acknowledged unless accompanied by a SASE.
•Winners will be announced in late April of 2012.
•DEADLINE: Submissions must be postmarked by February 24, 2012
•Make check or money order payable to Georgia Highlands College with “Old Red Kimono poetry contest” on the item line.

All entrants will receive a copy of the 2012 issue of Old Red Kimono. Winners will receive 2 copies and a prize check. Please note: Winners will have to submit their social security numbers in order to collect their checks. This is not ORK policy, but that of the University System of Georgia and Georgia Highlands College, our most generous benefactors.
***NOTE: ALTHOUGH THIS CONTEST IS SPONSORED BY ORK, IT IS A SEPARATE ENTITY. ONLY THE WINNING SUBMISSIONS FROM THE CONTEST WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR PUBLICATION IN ORK. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO ENTER THE CONTEST, YOU MAY STILL SUBMIT WORK TO ORK, AND THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR REGULAR SUBMISSIONS.
