Sheryl McKinney, M.A., LPC
Director
Ms. McKinney earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Liberty University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She received her Associate of Arts degree from Anderson College. Ms. McKinney is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked in private practice in the Atlanta area for 12 years prior to coming to Georgia Highlands College. She is active in several professional associations and thoroughly enjoys her work with students.
Krista Mazza, M.A., LAPC
Counselor/ Orientation Coordinator
Ms. Mazza has received a bachelors of Science in Psychology from Western Michigan University and a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Illinois University. Prior to coming to Georgia Highlands College, Ms. Mazza has worked in community mental health in south eastern Illinois and at Family and Children’s Services in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Ms. Mazza also has a background working in college admissions and orientation programs, and enjoys working with college students. Ms. Mazza is also active in several professional organizations.
Christin Perry-Michalik, M.A.
Counselor/Program Coordinator
Ms. Perry-Michalik earned her Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Central Michigan University where she also obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Before coming to Georgia Highlands College she worked in community mental health in Florida and in foster care in Pennsylvania. Ms. Perry-Michalik lives in the midtown area of Atlanta and loves the variety of things to do in that area. She loves working with students at GHC because she has the opportunity to work with students seeking help for a variety of concerns. Ms. Perry-Michalik is also a member of the American Counseling Association.
Katrina Vernor, M.A.
Counselor/Program Coordinator
Ms. Vernor earned her B.S. in Psychology from Georgia Southern University. After graduation she worked briefly in a battered women's shelter and then at an elementary school in Cherokee County. Katrina started off as an intern in 2006 and with completion of her masters degree is now on staff part time. Her Masters Degree is in Professional Counseling and is from Argosy University.
Louvonia Johnson Boone, GDCF
WIA Career Advisor
Joined the team in the Career and Counseling office at Georgia Highlands Rome campus in 2008. Mrs. Johnson Boone has 10 plus years of experience in job/career placement and holds a Certification as a Career Development Facilitator. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Berry College and is associated with several professional organizations. Mrs. Johnson Boone is excited about this opportunity within in the collegiate setting.
Wendy Price
Counseling Intern
Ms. Price earned her Bachelors of Arts in Behavioral Science from National Louis University in Illinois and an Associate of Science in Funeral Service from Gupton Jones College in Atlanta. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling at Argosy University in Atlanta.
Melinda Ewers
Senior Secretary
Ms. Ewers earned her Associate's Degree in General Studies from Georgia Highlands College and is currently attending Shorter College to complete her Bachelors of Science in Business Management. In addition to her Associate’s Degree, she has also completed the Paralegal Certificate Program at Georgia Highlands as well.
