FCST 1020

Career Choices and Decision Making

FCST 1020 is a two-hour elective course that is an institutional recommendation outside of the core curriculum. It is designed for those not yet decided about a program of study, or for those who want to validate their career choice.

As a result of this course students should be able to:

  • Understand the basic components of the career exploration process
  • Relate their assessment results to specific programs of study and occupations
  • Access a variety of career-related resources on the Internet
  • Develop a career/life plan
  • Produce a resume and prepare for an interview
  • Understand the job market and trends in employment
  • Utilize their long range advising plan to meet their academic goals
  • Understand the various theories of Occupational Choice
