Book Forum
The FC Library and Tutorial Center are proud to announce a new community open to all Georgia Highlands College students, staff, and faculty: the Book Forum. This new discussion group grew out of the "Poetry in the Pop Culture" group from the Spring semester of last year. The poetry group proved to be so successful that we put our heads together to come up with something; hence, the Book Forum. We plan to cover all forms of literature, from fiction to nonfiction and poetry to drama, with something for everyone.
To kick off our inaugural meeting, our new interim President, Rob Watts, has graciously offered his services as a reviewer. Anyone who listened to President Watts' in-service speech should realize his love of letters and his enthusiasm for sharing them with others. It should prove to be an exciting and informative review and discussion.
Our schedule for Fall semester 2000 is:
- September 28 - Robb Watts - The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene
- October 26 - Adam Stanley, FC student - The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway
- November 15 - Frank Minor, Asst. Prof. of English - A Lamb in his Bosom by Caroline Miller
The forums will take place in the Solarium from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. You don't have to have read the book to attend, but you might be inspired to read it because of the review and scintillating discussion. Copies of the titles to be discussed will be available in the Georgia Highlands College bookstore for purchase. We encourage anyone who might be interested in presenting to contact one of your friendly FC librarians or Jeanie Cassity of the Tutorial Center.
