- Develop a regular schedule
for viewing programs and completing readings and special
- Keep note taking to a
minimum while viewing the television programs.
- Complete the assigned
readings before you view each television program.
- Contact the professor by
phone for help if you have trouble understanding a unit of study.
- Be sure to attend on-campus
sessions for orientation, discussion, and examinations. Most colleges and
universities require a few on-campus sessions.
- Make sure you have access
to all of the written material from the professor as well as the textbook and
study guide.
- Identify a study partner
for each television course or from a small group of three to five
people.
- Check the schedule to find
your telecourse broadcast times. If possible, videotape the programs for later
viewing.
- Develop a set of notes for
each unit of the course so you can review for examinations without having to
read the entire text just before the exam.
- Develop a vocabulary list
of terms that are important to the course, especially those that are
unfamiliar to you. Write definitions in your own words and review them at the
end of each reading or after viewing the programs.
