College by DVD,
Telecourse,
and Web-Based
Courses web sites.
You may also view online the complete semester

How do I register for
the course?
Same procedure as traditional course
registration.
If you are a new student and have
completed the
application process,
you will be notified of orientation times in which advisement and registration
occur.
If you are a returning student who has not attended Georgia
Highlands
College for one year prior to your re-entry, you must complete necessary
paperwork before registration may occur. Please contact the admission office at
(706) 295-6339 for re-admission information and form (form is different from the
new student admission form).
If you are a continuing student you
may register online through The SCORE provided you don't have any financial
obligation (parking ticket, library fine, laptop fee, etc.) to the college, in
which case you must first clear the obligation in order to be allowed to
register. You may also register in person at the college.
How will I get the
materials?
You can pick up the textbook from the Georgia Highlands College
bookstore or order it
online. Any other course
material will be distributed by the faculty member during the orientation
session or as outlined in the course syllabus.
How will I interact
with the faculty?
You can visit or call the instructor during
his/her office hours; the times are printed on the course syllabus. You can also
reach faculty via voicemail, fax, postal mail, email, or other online methods.
Each instructor will specify the methods of communication available for the
specific course.
How will I interact
with other students in the course?
All students will have email
capabilities. The instructor will specify if interaction is required for the
course. Methods can include but not be limited to email, telephone conference
call, online discussion boards.
How will I turn in the
assignments?
Instructors may direct you to drop off assignments at
one of the Georgia Highlands College campuses, submit them via email or other online method,
or send via postal mail. Methods will be stipulated in each course's
syllabus.
How will I take
quizzes and tests?
The instructor will specify during orientation
and on the syllabus as to when and where quizzes and tests need to be taken.
They may be given online or proctored at a Georgia Highlands College location.
How will I receive my
grade? How do I withdraw from the course?
Students can access their grades through The SCORE.
As with regular
courses, you may drop a course during the drop/add period without
penalty.
After the drop/add period ends, you may withdraw from a
course without penalty until mid-term.
In order to drop a class
after mid-term, you must complete the "Withdrawal After Mid-Semester
Form". These forms may be obtained in the Office of the Vice President
for Academic Affairs in Rome, or from a Center Coordinator at any other campus.
If you don't complete the "Documentation of Your Hardship" portion of that form,
or complete the portion and the hardship is disapproved, you will receive a WF
as the course grade. If the hardship is approved, you may receive a W or a WF at
the instructor's discretion.
