A Two-Year Unit of the University System of Georgia
Political Science

Welcome to the Division of Social and Cultural Studies program of study in Political Science. Georgia Highlands College offers an Associate of Arts degree in Political Science with a broad liberal arts background based on an academic perspective. We are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, commonly referred to as SACS

At Georgia Highlands College, the study of Political Science examines the development and function of American political institutions, such as Congress and the Presidency.  There is a particular focus placed upon the national government and national politics.

Political Science students at Georgia Highlands College are also introduced to Georgia government and Georgia politics.

Students and graduates of the program can go on to traditional four-year colleges and universities to obtain baccalaureate degrees. Political Science can provide the foundations for careers in government, public policy, academia, and the practice of law.
