Regents'
Test
REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION WILL BE SENT VIA GHC STUDENT EMAIL
Please go to
Next
Regents' Testing Date for upcoming date.
Students
enrolled in transfer degree programs at GHC must pass both
parts of the Georgia Regents' Test as a requirement for graduation.
New students admitted to GHC Fall, 2008 and beyond must take the
Regents' Test during their first semester at GHC.
For additional information or to view practice tests, please
visit the Regents' web site at
http://www2.gsu.edu/~wwwrtp/
. An online reading test review can be found at
http://www.highlands.edu/academics/support/rthome.htm . Additional information regarding Regents'
requirements can be found in the GHC catalog at
http://www.highlands.edu/currentstudents/catalog/index.htm .
The Regents' Test is a
two-part test of reading and writing competency. The test is
given each semester at both the Rome and Cartersville campuses.
Students should go online to
SCORE and
register for the test using one of the CRNs listed on Page 9 in the
Academic Classes
schedule bulletin. There is no charge for
taking the Regents' Test.
Based upon individual requirements
students will register in Both Parts (RTPB), Reading Only (RTPR) or
Essay Only (RTPE) at a time and location listed on link
Next Regents' Testing Date. If you
are taking both parts of the test you must take them together in one
testing session.
Students admitted prior to Fall, 2008 may take the test in
the semester after they have completed English 1101 with a C or
better. Students must take the test in the semester after they
have completed 30 semester credit hours if they have not taken it
previously. Students who have earned 45 credit hours (not
counting Learning Support or any other institutional credit hours)
and who have not passed the test will be enrolled in appropriate
remediation courses. Students who have failed the test twice,
regardless of hours earned, must also enroll in remediation courses.
Students must enroll in the remediation course or courses related to
the part (s) of the test which they have failed and must pass the
class before they are allowed to take the test. They must
retake only the part of the test which they have failed.
Failure to comply with the remediation requirement can delay or
prohibit graduation. Please see the college
catalog or Board of Regents web site for further information.
Once
registered for the test, students should make note of the test
session for which they registered or print a copy of their class
schedule. The Regents' Test CRNs are temporary and will disappear from
individual schedules following the Regents' Test
registration deadline. The testing centers will have rosters
listing those who registered by the deadline.
Registration confirmation will be via student GHC email address.
Students will receive no other registration notification.
Students should bring a
picture ID, one or two #2 pencils, and an ink pen for the test.
Students may bring a dictionary if they are taking the essay part of the
test. Students will be allowed to use the dictionary as
announced during the
last 15 minutes of the essay test.
