Date Submitted:

 June 1st, 2006

Assessment Period:

2005 -2006

Related College Goal:  Provide student services that meet the needs of our population;

serve our communities through multiple educational sites

Unit/Team Goal:

The student success center is the synergized entity created by joining academic advising, the tutorial center and the assessment center. The Student Success Center is designed to assist new and returning students in reaching academic and personal goals by providing academic advising, information and procedures for academic testing as well as providing academic support through tutoring and study skills support.

Expected Outcome:

Students will be tested in a timely manner.

Outcome Assessment:

Students who are tested will be given an exit survey to determine their satisfaction with the testing experience.

Performance Targets:

Primary Target:

Based on an exit survey, at least 70% of students will report that testing started on time.

Secondary Target:

Less than 20 %of students who reported the test did not start on time will indicate that the delay was due to computer problems

Summary of Data Collected (Performance Results):

Primary: Over 85% of students reported both the entrance and exit exam started on time at the Cartersville and Rome Campuses.

Rome :

Placement –   96% started on time

Exit           -    88% started on time

Cartersville:

Placement-    90% started on time

Exit-               93% started on time

Secondary: In Cartersville, 9.5% of students reporting a delay in test start time indicated that it was due to computer problems.

Recommended Actions: Students reported only a few problems with computers and it appeared that the wording of the survey produced a halo effect. The questions should be reworded and put in the negative. For example, instead of “testing was delayed by computer problems”, the statement should be “testing was not delayed by computer problems.”
