Related College Goal: Provide student services that meet the needs of our population.

 

 

 

Unit/Team Goal: The Office of Student Life (OSL) seeks to develop the Georgia Highlands College student body through a series of co-curricular activities that promote experiential learning, wellness, an appreciation of the arts, leadership, and volunteerism.

 

Expected Outcome: Students at the Cartersville Campus will have access to programming that is identical to the opportunities available at the Floyd Campus.

 

 

Outcome Assessment: Students will complete Presently Attending Student Survey (Spring Survey, questions #1-3)

 

 

Performance Targets: 

Primary Target: 25% of Cartersville student responses will indicate they participated in a Student Life event (PASS Q#1).

 

 

 

Secondary Target: 80% of Cartersville students who attended events will indicate they enjoyed the event by scoring either Strongly Agree or Agree (PASS Q#3).

 

Summary of Data Collected (Performance Results):

Primary: On the PASS Spring 2006, only 13% of the Cartersville students indicated they attended an event.

Secondary: 72% of those that attended events scored their enjoyment as a SA or A.

Recommended Actions:

Establishment of a true “activity period” at the Cartersville Campus will be explored for the upcoming year. Increased encouragement by faculty/staff to be involved in campus activities, and additional promotion/advertisement of events has be implemented for those students at the Cartersville Campus.

Unit/Team Goal: The Office of Student Life (OSL) seeks to develop the Georgia Highlands College student body through a series of co-curricular activities that promote experiential learning, wellness, an appreciation of the arts, leadership, and volunteerism.

 

Expected Outcome: Students will be aware of clubs and organizations available for their participation and will be encouraged to join a group.

 

 

Outcome Assessment: Students will complete Presently Attending Student Survey (Spring Survey, questions #6-8); OSL records of clubs/organizations.

 

Performance Targets: 

Primary Target: 15% of students will indicate they are a member of at least one student organization/club (PASS Q#6).

 

 

Secondary Target: The number of available and active groups will exceed 25 by the end of Spring 2006 term.

Summary of Data Collected (Performance Results):

Primary: On the PASS Spring 2006, only 10% of students indicated they were members of at least one student organization. This reflected a 1% increase from the 2005 data.

Secondary: The number of registered student organizations totaled 27 groups at the end of Spring 2006. Five new organizations were chartered during the 2005-2006 year.

 

Recommended Actions:

Student organization offerings will be expanded at the Cartersville Campus. Students will receive more information regarding what is available through additional recruitment opportunities; and advisors have been requested to use the established “activity period” for meetings.

Related College Goal: Be innovative in our approach to teaching, learning and support services.

 

Unit/Team Goal: The Office of Student Life (OSL) seeks to develop the Georgia Highlands College student body through a series of co-curricular activities that promote experiential learning, wellness, an appreciation of the arts, leadership, and volunteerism.

Expected Outcome: Students will attend more campus events in order to earn stamps on a punch-card that can be redeemed for prizes.

 

 

Outcome Assessment: Students will complete Presently Attending Student Survey (Spring Survey, questions #1-5); OSL records of events and punch-card distribution.

 

Performance Targets: 

Primary Target: 25% of students will indicate they attended at least one student life event.

 

 

Secondary Target: At least 1,000 punch-cards will be distributed to students who attend events during the year.

Summary of Data Collected (Performance Results):

Primary: On the PASS Spring 2006, 20% of students indicated they attended least one student life event. This reflected a 10% increase from the 2005 data.

Secondary: Approximately 1,200 “Stampede Cards” were distributed to students throughout the year. 25 students turned in full cards at the end of Spring 2006.

 

Recommended Actions:

The Stampede Card had some success, but will receive additional promotion to remind students. Reorganization of the prize levels has been considered as well to make it easier to earn prizes early to encourage continued participation.
