|
Expected Outcome: Students will demonstrate ability to prepare course
assignments in a variety of courses using computer technology. |
|
|
Outcome Assessment: An online questionnaire will be
distributed to and completed by English 1101 students near the end of Fall Semester
which has students evaluate their use of MS Word when completing essays for
the course. |
|
|
Performance Targets: Primary Performance Target: At least 75% of students will
respond with “Yes” to at least three of the five items on the questionnaire. Secondary Performance Target: No
more than 15% of students completing on-line evaluation will mark “No” for
two or more of the items on the questionnaire. |
|
|
Summary of Data Collected
(Performance Results): During
both Fall and Spring Semesters, the number of students participating in the
survey was not high enough to yield useful assessments. However,
participation rates did improve from approx. 25% in fall to 33% in spring.
The survey will be distributed again both semesters of the upcoming year,
with recommended actions reflecting the need to increase faculty/student
participation. |
|
|
Recommended Actions: -include a question on the survey asking students to
identify their teachers by name so participation can be better tracked -include information in part-time faculty orientation on
the importance of participation in I.E. activities |

|
|
Expected Outcome: Students will demonstrate ability to use appropriate
technology to enhance information literacy. |
|
|
Outcome Assessment: BI classes were offered and taught on all campuses by
librarians. The classes included
instruction regarding the information literacy and how to use the GALILEO and
GIL databases, and the Internet. After
the instruction, a portion of those classes (Floyd students) received end-of-class
exercises produced by librarian(s) and/or instructor(s) requiring the use of
computers to answer at least 70% of the questions. The graded exercises were returned to the
students to offer them feedback and additional instruction. |
|
|
Performance Targets: Primary Performance Target: 20% of all students will participate in a
Bibliographic Instruction (BI) workshop. Secondary Performance Target:
80% of students (Floyd) will
score a 70 or above on an end-of class exercise completed after the BI
workshop. |

Recommended Actions: Primary Performance Target not met. Secondary Performance Target not met. 1)
Librarians will review the end-of-class exercises in order to determine if a
standardized set of questions can be used on each campus. 2) Librarians will continue to analyze
GALILEO usage statistics to determine how they measure this outcome. |
