Assessment Period:

July 1, 2005June 30, 2006

Related College Goal:  GHC will maintain efficient and effective administrative services to support the instructional and community outreach programs of the college.

Unit/Team Goal:  The Department of Advancement is a service unit that works to advance GHC as one the premiere educational institutions in the USG. We will accomplish this mission by developing broad-based community support with key stakeholders, including the college community, the college foundation, alumni, friends, and local employers.

Expected Outcome:  Alumni association board of directors will be satisfied with the progress of the association.

Outcome Assessment:  Survey alumni association board of directors regarding their satisfaction with the organization.

Performance Targets:

Primary Target:  100% of the alumni association board of directors will respond to the satisfaction survey

Secondary Target:  Of the respondents, 85% will respond that they are satisfied with the organization’s progress (indicate “yes” to survey questions).

Summary of Data Collected (Performance Results):  Primary Target – In April 2006, the Alumni Board of Directors completed a self-evaluation survey.  We did not achieve our primary objective - 100% of the board would respond to the survey – only 68% responded to the assessment.

Secondary Target – We exceeded our secondary target with 86% satisfaction.  Through the assessment, board meeting attendance was identified as an issue; the number of people who responded to the questions with “don’t know” also stood out to a number of board members.

Recommended Actions:  The group recommended we change the board meetings to the last Tuesday of each month from 5:30 – 7 p.m.  Board members will also send Mary Norton names of potential board members.  Mary and the referring board member will meet with the individual and explore their interest in getting involved in the board of directors.  The executive committee will meet in June to review current board membership.

Expected Outcome:  Foundation board members will participate in scheduled foundation meetings

Outcome Assessment:  Track individual board member attendance at quarterly board meetings.

Performance Targets:

Primary Target:  65% of members will participate in at least two quarterly board meetings

Secondary Target:  50% of members will participate in all quarterly board meetings

Summary of Data Collected (Performance Results):

Primary Target - Board meeting attendance increased throughout the year (36% in September, 44% in December, 52% in March, and 60% in June).  The primary target for 65% of members participating in at least two quarterly board meetings was not met as only 56% participated in at least two quarterly board meetings.

Secondary Target - The secondary target was for 50% of members to participate in all quarterly board meetings.  This target was not met as only 16% participated in all four meetings.

Recommended Actions:  The Office of Advancement has communicated its attendance goals to all board members and the Foundation’s Nominating Committee and encourages the committee to consider attendance as a factor in recommendation continuation on the board.

The Office of Advancement will conduct a board member satisfaction survey in 2006-2007 to obtain feedback from board members regarding the organization, its current status, activities and goals as well as the level of support provided by the Office of Advancement.  The survey will be distributed at the June 28 board meeting and will be due back to the Office of Advancement by mid-July.  Results will be used to formulate goals for 2006-2007.
