In an economic downturn, small businesses often suffer through make or break times, and the current meltdown on Wall Street most certainly will impact such businesses throughout America. Whether a company weathers the lean times or succumbs to them depends not only on how it achieves cost efficiencies but on how it cements its brand position and continues to market its products and services.
The continuing education department of Georgia Highlands College is offering a four-hour course on how to navigate the down times in a workshop titled How to Increase Your Profitability During a Sluggish Economy, Friday, Oct. 24 from 8:15 a.m. to noon on the Cartersville campus of GHC. The registration fee is $49 each, or $200 for five participants.
The workshop will feature presentations by founder and former owner of Atlanta-based Peachtree Movers, Ed Katz. Katz is also president of the International Office Moving Institute and author of three books. As a business owner he successfully navigated two recessions and became one of the foremost business movers in the United States. He will share his marketing and sales techniques for surviving faltering economies. Jerry Hargrove, founder and former president of multi-line independent insurer Northside Insurance Services, will also discuss the importance of promoting companies on the Internet and how to mine for point-of-sale referrals. Hargrove founded the Real Estate Insurance Network and developed the Donuts to Dollars marketing program. He co-owns Slope's BBQ in Cartersville.
The Cartersville campus of Georgia Highlands is located at 5441 Highway 20. For further information about the program call 678-872-8240.
